It's OK to be new...
We've all been there! The unfamiliar can be a bit awkward at first, but after time it becomes comfortable. We trust the following information will make you more comfortable as you visit us.
The Lord has blessed us with a large building and several acres of land. It can be a bit confusing to those who have never visited before.
CHURCH BUILDING AND OVERALL INFORMATION
The steeple marks out our church building. This is where most of our Sunday and Wednesday activities take place. Due to expansion over the years you may find our "L" shaped auditorium a bit odd at first, but you'll get used to it. We have several entrances, but for our guests, we recommend you enter by the covered entrance. Once there, you will see a lobby- from this lobby the stairs down lead to our nursery, children, teen, & an adult Sunday school class, and restrooms. The stairs up, lead you to our auditorium. Any one of our members will be happy to direct you.
Seating: You are welcome to sit where you feel most comfortable. If needed, a restroom is located in the back of our left auditorium wing (keep walking past the sound-booth).
Music: We are conservative in our music. If you don't know the hymns, feel free to listen and join in when you can. We do believe music is an act of worship to our Lord, in fact, many of our songs reflect on the power and character of our great God. During our special music, our vocalists and musicians have a desire that Christ be glorified in their presentation. Our standard practice at Mountain View is to refrain from applause following special music.
Dress: Many of our members “dress up” for church, but we do not have a dress code for members or visitors. It is important to remember that we gather to seek the Lord through the study of God’s Word, so we try not to draw undue attention to ourselves or our bodies as we gather for fellowship and worship. Therefore, you will feel most comfortable as a visitor in modest attire that helps us as a church body focus on the Lord. On certain occasions (church picnics, youth activities, etc... you will find us dressed a bit more casually), but for the majority of our services we range from "business casual" to "business" dress (in fact, Pastor doesn't wear a tie on Wednesday).
Offering: At Mountain View, we support our ministry through the tithes and offerings of our members and regular attenders. As our guest, please do not feel obligated to give or embarrassed if you cannot place money in the offering plate. Simply pass the plate to the next person or family in your pew. However, we have visitor cards in the pew racks. We would be grateful if you filled out one and dropped that in the plate when it passes by,
OFFICE BUILDING
The office building stands out because of the flagpole and rock well in front. This is the building where our Wednesday evening Bible study and most of our social activities take place. It also houses several classrooms, a gymnasium, and a social room, and the church offices.
